We are looking to recruit a Secretary to join our Board – the position is voluntary and unpaid.
We are a charity dedicated to the emotional well-being of all English-speaking residents of Spain. Our vision is for a society in which fewer people die by suicide, people are able to explore their feelings, and people are able to acknowledge and respect the feelings of others.
We do this by enabling people of any age who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those who may be at risk of suicide, to receive confidential emotional support. Appropriately trained Listeners provide this support via FREEPHONE between 10am and midnight, 365 days a year. We offer this support in order to improve emotional health and to reduce the incidence of suicide.
Whether you are already an experienced Trustee or want to make that first step to Board level, we would love to hear from you.

Fluency in English/ native English speaker
Ability to work effectively as a member of the team

In addition, we are looking for the following skills specific to fulfilling the role of Secretary that we wish to appoint to:
Experience in writing accurate Minutes that reflect the outcome of Board meetings
Good time management
Excellent attention to detail
Highly organised, with a methodical approach to document management

Debate and discussion with like-minded senior professionals

We are seeking individuals who are willing and able to dedicate the necessary time and effort, which could be two half-days per week, plus Board/Zoom meetings and ad hoc events as needed.
Board meetings are held monthly and are primarily conducted via Zoom. However, board members are expected to attend three in-person meetings per year. For this reason, applicants need to be willing to travel to our office in Punta Marina, Alicante, on the understanding that all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
